What to expect on your first consultation
A full case history is taken on your intial visit which includes
symptoms & general health. Gaining a good case history allows us to be able to diagnose appropriately, rather than just treat the symptoms. Treatment time is varable, much dependant on the length of the case history and tests conducted. We would always suggest booking a full 50 minute session for your initial visit to include treatment time too. You need to wear appropriate clothing,
undergarments ie shorts, Tshirt, rear fastening bra and it is advisable
to bring warm clothes for when you leave. Please bring your trainers
with you in the event that we may need to inspect your footware.
What is a sports therapist?
Basically we are soft tissue specialists. We believe that movement
is determined by the length, the balance and the condition of
muscles, the skeleton simply acts as a lever. In most cases, injuries
or postural imbalances are caused by tight muscles over
compensating for others. Our job is to assess, to treat and to
maintain these areas. Most of our treatments involve a form of manual therapy (massage), massage is not only proven to be able to speed up rehabilitation time of an injury, but is also an excellent form of treatment for injury prevention. To complement treatment at Studio57 we also include Ultrasound, taping & strapping, pressure release, MET / PNF stretches, strength / stretch programmes.
What is a biomechanical assessment?
We advise all our clients to have a biomechanical assessment.
Age is irrelevant. A biomechanical assessment will not only denote
your body’s alignment, detect any muscle / postural imbalances
that may be causing ankle / knee / hip or back pain, but also
establish any weaknesses you may have to prevent any possible
injuries occurring too.
